COVID 19 INFO
COVID 2021/2022 Season – Updated September 19th
Based on the latest Government mandates, SAWHA is going to require proof of vaccination in order to play in the league. We are obligated to follow these rules, and the rules put in place by the arenas, in order to move forward with the 2021/2022 season. We know that this is a lot, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate our upcoming season.
PROOF OF VACCINE
- Team managers are responsible for collecting proof of vaccination from their players.
– Email proof of vaccine to registrar.sawha@gmail.com. - Any person who plays unvaccinated will be banned from the SAWHA League for one year.
- If a team has a player that plays without providing proof of vaccination in advance, that team will receive a fine from the League ($200)
- Arenas are putting out their own rules with respect to vaccination, including: checking for vaccines at the door, random checks, and loss of ice if you do not abide by their rules.
- Carry your proof of vaccine and ID with you at all times to the arena, in case of a spot checks or checks at the door.
- Rapid testing will not be accepted.
All information collected by SAWHA regarding proof of COVID-19 vaccination or medical exemption will be held and used in full compliance of the Province of Alberta – Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This information will be permanently deleted once AHS requirements have been lifted.
We do ask that everyone does what they can to keep their hockey community safe:
- Masks must be worn inside of the areas, and all indoor spaces.
- Please stay home if you are sick

V. 2021/22 COVID-19 PROCEDURES AND RULES
1. League Procedures and Rules
- All current applicable provincial and municipal COVID-19 laws must be adhered to, including any and all regulations from applicable Alberta Health Service (AHS) and public health authorities. It is each player’s responsibility to be aware of and follow all current COVID-19 restrictions and regulations regarding participation in organized sports.
- As stipulated by AHS, in order for SAWHA to operate for the 2021/2022 season all participants must provide an accepted proof of COVID-19 vaccination before entering any facility and/or participating in a game. Prior to their first game, team representatives are required to collect proof of vaccination from all team participants and submit them to SAWHA.
- Players who register after their team’s first game must submit proof of vaccination to SAWHA prior to entering a facility and/or participating in a game.
- SAWHA will not accept COVID-19 test results in lieu of vaccine status.
- All information collected by SAWHA regarding proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be held and used in full compliance of the Province of Alberta – Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This information will be permanently deleted once AHS requirements have been lifted.
- All players must possess and be prepared to provide proof of vaccination and government-issued identification while using any facility.
- All players must be familiar with and follow facility requirements. These protocols may include, but are not limited to: wearing masks, health screening, physical distancing and use of showers.
- In the event that the government restrictions are modified during the season, SAWHA may make adjustments to the COVID-19 Procedures and Rules.
2. Game Procedures and Rules
- Team Representatives must verify and sign the gamesheet before the start of
each game. By signing the gamesheet you are verifying that all of your players
are in possession of, and have submitted proof of COVID-19 vaccination to
SAWHA. - Absolutely no spitting or blowing noses on the ice or bench.
- Any participants who show or develop symptoms during the game must depart
the game and facility immediately. - There is no handshake at the conclusion of games. Players are welcome to
acknowledge the other team with raised sticks or a wave.
